THE LAST WORD

If you Arrive on Friday Afternoon/Evening

Getting to The Event Centre: After you have parked, re-trace your steps to the main road, carrying everything you will need for the weekend. Don’t forget some money. Take great care crossing the main road to the pavement, turn right and follow the taped route 300M, dropping down a ginnel to the Corran Ferry crossing. The Event Centre is at Ardgour on the north side of the narrows. You do not need a ticket to cross on the ferry, which departs every 30 minutes on the ¼ hour. If you are arrive at the crossing point after 22:30, you will be transported across to Corran by semi-rigid inflatable, provided by Ardgour Fish Farm. Last crossing will be at 23:45. The Event Centre is a 2 minute walk from the ferry landing point. Turn left when you leave the ferry and follow the taped route for 200M to the field.

Nether Lochaber Hotel: On your way to the ferry, you will pass the Nether Lochaber Hotel close to the ferry landing. If you are arriving at a reasonable hour, you could call in here for a relaxing drink or a bar snack on your way to the Event Centre. The hotel will be geared up to cope with some extra business and there is nothing to stop you re-crossing on the ferry to the hotel after you have set up camp.

Facilities at the Event Centre: Wilf’s will be serving their usual delicious fayre and the villagers are organising a bar and cakestall on the field until about midnight.

Local Facilities In the Villages of Ardgour & Clovullin: It is unfortunate that the Ardgour Hotel, currently being refurbished, will not be open in time for our event. The nearest shop is the TeaRoom at Clovullin, ¾ mile west from the Event Centre. This combines a well-provisioned shop, snack facilities and a bar. It will stay open till late.

If you Arrive on Saturday Morning

Please read the note above ‘Getting to the Event Centre’. It is best not to expect to return to your car until you are ready to depart for home. Please pack a change of clothing each into one holdall/rucksack per team and take it with you to the Event Centre. You will be given a baggage tag with your team number marked on it and the bag may be re-claimed at any time during the weekend from one of the marquees. Before taking the ferry across to Ardgour please check in with our marshal at the shelter close to the ferry landing. Don’t worry about your start time as we will generate a new one for you when you are ready to start.

Saturday Morning Start: There is no need to not leave the Event Centre until 20 minutes before your start time. We would prefer you to adhere to this in order to avoid congestion at the start.

Returning To Your Cars on Sunday: There could be a significant delay between 14:00 and 16:00 when most people will want to cross back on the ferry and return to their cars. Please be patient and follow the directions of marshals. Those needing to take the coach at 15.15 to Glasgow will be moved to the front of the queue as will those who need to get an earlier lift to meet travel connections in Glasgow. Once across the water, please use the pavement along the busy A82(T) until directly opposite the lane leading to the parking area.

Camping Available on Sunday Night: You are very welcome to camp at the Event Centre on Sunday night. The Tea Room/Bar/Village shop in Clovullin village centre will welcome your custom.

NB Due to a printing problem, the bulk of the maps are in transit from Southampton. However, we are promised that they will arrive by late tonight (Friday). As a result, all maps will be handed out just before you start.
