Victorious Elite pair Alun and Ifor Powell pictured today

Who says repeats aren't any good?

Certainly not Alun and Ifor Powell who have successfully defended their Elite Class crown. Leaving all pretenders to their title behind them, the Powell pair simply put their heads down and did the job with a minimum of fuss. The victory must seem all the sweeter given the amazing depth of quality in this years field. After all the speculation over who would take the title they won last year they have proved most pundits wrong and come through in style.

It was by no means an easy victory for the pair. Old adversaries Mark Seddon and Mark Hartell were in second place at the mid camp and the Powells knew that they were sure to push them hard. Throughout the day its been nip and tuck between the two teams and while Seddon and Hartell were gaining on the leading pair they simply ran out of miles in which to catch them.

The Elite class has been hard fought again this year and has kept us guessing right to the last mile. An indepth report on the days events will be here as soon as possible, as well and details of the victors in the other classes can be found in the results page. Reports on these classes will be here soon. Keep connected to get the full story!
