FINAL DETAILS
This Supplements the Event Details

BEFORE YOU COME TO THE LAMM

  • Ensure you know your team number
  • Bring a copy of Events Details, Final Details and Electronic Punching Details (look in the Useful Info option)

 ARRIVING AT THE LAMM

Fill up with fuel before you leave the last major town as there is no reasonably priced fuel for miles around.  When you park at the event location those arriving first will in general park furthest away.  Be prepared to carry your kit to the Event Centre & camping area in a rucksack.  There is a wet route from the parking area of about 1.3KM (worth wearing event footwear) or a dry route of up to 2.5KM, all depending on where you are parked.  Wilfs will be present to feed you and Compass Point will provide kit for the event.  Sorry - no dogs are permitted at the event.

FOOT & MOUTH PRECAUTIONS

We are very fortunate to be able to hold the event this year.  In consultation with the estates we have agreed the following preventative measures that you must adhere to without fail.

EVERYONE: Wash and scrub dirt off all footwear being worn or brought to the event

IF YOU COMING FROM A LOCATION WHICH HAS HAD AN OUTBREAK IN THE VICINITY SINCE 15TH MAY:
Wear clean clothes, shower and wash hair before setting off
Find a car wash north of a line from Glasgow -> Edinburgh and use a power wash, concentrating on the underside of the car and wheel arches.  Dirty cars may not be allowed onto the estate!

IF YOU ARE BRINGING A TENT USED IN THE UK SINCE 13TH FEBRUARY: Sponge the groundsheet with a fairly dilute disinfectant and then rinse with water.

When you arrive at the Event Centre, look out for and park near the “STOP  - DISINFECT ALL SHOES HERE” sign.  Everyone must get out of their vehicles, then dip all footwear being carried and worn in bowls of disinfectant (dilute citric acid).  There must be NO EXCEPTIONS.  Return to your vehicle and drive onto the estate over carpet impregnated with disinfectant.

THE EVENT

Maps (2 per team) will be handed out on the way to the start.  Maps are not waterproof so please ensure that you take an 18”x24” map bag with you and if the weather is really bad we suggest that you save one map for use on the second day.  Also carry some money with you (a note) in case you get stranded miles from the Event Centre.

 MERCHANDISE

18”x24” map bags, waterproof pens, videos of Jura 1997, the handbook “Mountain Navigation For Runners” by Martin Bagness (at a special event price of £4) and maps from previous events.  Additional maps from LAMM 2001 may also be purchased at the end of the event.

EVENT T & SWEAT SHIRTS

This year we will offer another eye-catching design created by Stuart Brown at Lowe Alpine and printed onto charcoal tee shirts and zinc sweat shirts.  The garments will be the same price as last year - tees are £10 and the sweats are £16.  They can be purchased during the weekend in the marquee and should these sell out, a mail order list will be compiled and items despatched by the end of July.

BUNKHOUSE ACCOMMODATION

On your entry forms you have indicated that about 80 of you would like bunkhouse accommodation for £12 per person – breakfast not included.  We only have space for about 40 people and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.  To be on the safe side it is best to come to the event equipped to camp at the Event Centre if all the accommodation is taken.  To take advantage of the accommodation both team members must come to the Information Desk at registration together to request and pay for accommodation.  There will be a walk of approx. 1KM from where you park your car, so you’ll need to be able to carry all your kit in a rucksack.

TAKING THE COACH FROM INVERNESS OR GLASGOW TO THE LAMM

If you have already notified us of your wish to join a coach for transport from Inverness Airport or Glasgow Bus Station/Airport on the Friday afternoon/evening, your name should now be listed on the LAMM web site.  We will be providing full details of how the transport will work by 12th June and these will be sent to those without access to the web site.  It is not too late to take up this offer, but please return the Coach Booking form (sent out with the entry form or accessible on the web site) to us as soon as possible.  Coach ‘managers’ will try to ensure that connections are kept with late-running trains, coaches and flights, so long as we are made aware that people are arriving on them.

CAN YOU HELP?

We almost have enough helpers now.  However, if you are thinking of coming to the event but are not competing, and would be willing to work hard at parking, registration, marshalling competitors, the starts, finishes, and the mid-camp, please telephone us on the number below no later than 7th June.  We would prefer helpers who can commit to helping from Friday afternoon and for the whole weekend.
